How healthy really are you? Have you ever wondered that?

It’s not all diet and exercise

I know that may sound a little crazy but in reality, how healthy you really are depends on much more than just diet and exercise. Everything you do and every choice you make either improves, destroys, or maintains your current state of well being.

 

 

How healthy are you as a whole?

The health I am talking about comes in the form of integrated health. This is health as a WHOLE person. It goes quite a bit beyond diet and exercise. I’m talking about having the right balance in your life in more areas than that. True health starts from the inside out.

 

How are the following areas in your life?

  • Physical
  • Social
  • Emotional
  • Nutrition
  • Community
  • Sleep
  • Spirituality
  • Relationships
  • Exposure to Toxins
  • Mental Health

This is where you’ll find true health from the inside out. finding the right balance in these areas of our lives can sometimes be challenging but when one area is out of balance, the rest seem to suffer.

 

 

Daily actions reflect our health

My daily actions were not quite reflecting on the health aspect. I was doing the workouts and thought I was eating “clean”. I was sticking to my macros, eating low-fat, low-calorie, sticking to my 1200 calories a day and wasn’t gaining any weight so I was healthy in my mind. Well, I pretty much felt like shit during that time of my life.

I didn’t fully understand the other areas and how they were impacting my overall health and well being.

My sleep sucked, I felt like a walking zombie. My thyroid levels were all jacked up and I was not a happy camper. I was struggling inside.

 

 

Looking at the big picture

I had to step back and look at the big picture and look at my overall well being and not just the physical aspect of what I thought health was supposed to LOOK like. It was time to work on making healthier decisions far beyond just diet and exercise.

My family deserved me at my best and I was NOT at my best, to say the least. I owed it to them to work on my overall wellbeing. They deserved a better version of me and I needed to take responsibility.

Mindset Adjustment

I had to go through a little mindset shift and get my priorities lined up in the right order. I got my priorities in check and it seemed things started falling into place. I had to evaluate all the areas in my life where I was struggling and look at what needed to be done to find the right balance.

 

 

I got my shit together

I got my shit together and started working on the areas that were suffering. I’d have to say that SLEEP was a huge one for me. Those over the counter pills only had me feeling like I had been hit by a Mack truck in the morning. My body needed to be able to recharge in order for me to be at my best each day. I found what worked for me and I have NOT looked back. I LOVE MY SLEEP!!

It’s amazing that other things started falling into place when I started sleeping better. It was like I was finding the person I had lost in all of this mess.

Totally different view from above

Today, I look at health in a totally different way. I knew I had to change my message from what I once knew and promoted to who and what I really truly am and stand for. This is why I share my journey with you and others out there that may be feeling this same way. I want others to know what it TRULY means to be healthy.

Redefine Health

It’s time we redefine health and expand beyond just diet and exercise.
