Are you feeling unmotivated, maybe a little down in the dumps? Are you stuck in a rut? How do you get out of it if you ARE stuck in a rut?

First and foremost, let me tell you, we all have bad days. It’s ok to have a bad day or a meltdown, just don’t stay there. Take a little time out and chill for a bit. Maybe you just need a moment to gather yourself, or maybe a day. You’re not alone if you feel like this. We’ve all been there.

BUT! You’re NOT going to stay there so let’s talk about how to get out of a rut.

First, you have to figure out, is it just a bad day or a bad life? Most likely, you’re just having a bad day. Life can’t be all that bad. It’s all about what you make of it.

You might be in an ugly place. You get grumpy, you just don’t want to do anything. You don’t even want to get up and get dressed and ready for the day. You get to a point where you’re avoiding things and you just don’t want to adult. Now, this is COMPLETELY normal is we’re just talking about you having a moment here and there like this. If it’s lasting weeks, months and what may feel like an eternity, then you may need to address it further.

So, when you’re feeling this way for a hot minute or a day what do you do? How do you get yourself out of a rut?

Try these little tips and see if you can pull yourself out of the rut you’re in.

When in doubt, dance it out! Put on some music and have a little dance party. Who cares what you look like. Get your endorphins hopping and have a ball.

Take a look at what you have in your life. What are you grateful for? Write it down. You’ll notice that it REALLY is the little things that make us thankful and happy. A thankful heart is a happy heart.

Take a look at the big picture and realize what makes this rut worse and what makes it better. If you’re sulking and feeling sorry for yourself, then it’s not going to get better. What you focus on is what you’ll feel. Try putting yourself together and put a smile on your face. you might notice that you feel better with just that.

Most importantly is to remember that you CAN change things and make them better. It’s all up to you and what you decide to focus on. You may just need a few minutes a day to just get centered with your thoughts and focus on YOU. You might need to take 5 minutes to yourself and take care of yourself first. This is exactly WHY I created my FREE downloadable journal Take 5 For You.
