How to Boost Your Metabolism and Lose Weight

Everyone wants to know how to boost their metabolism and lose weight. Did you know you can boost your metabolism WITHOUT even dieting? I know, it sounds crazy but, it CAN be done.

There are a few key factors that can affect your metabolism like, muscle mass, age, gender, physical activity, hormonal factors and of course, your diet. I don’t know about you but I’m noticing as I get older, things are slowing down a bit, not to mention the fact that I have hypothyroidism. BUT, it is possible to boost your metabolism and lose weight even if these factors are trying to stack against you.

3 Tips to Boost Your Metabolism and Lose Weight:

1.) STOP DIETING. The word alone makes me cringe. We all get on that diet craze and restrict our calories. When you restrict calories, you DO lose weight, BUT you also lose muscle!  It’s true, I’m not going to lie,  you will lose weight at first, but if you continue to restrict your metabolism will slow down and you’ll end up burning fewer calories! So, forget the diet and just EAT RIGHT!

2.) LIFT WEIGHTS. Muscle is what you need to burn fat and calories.  Muscle is what helps our body stay young! The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism will be. Don’t be afraid to lift heavy, you won’t look like the Hulk, I promise.  If you want to lose weight, you should be lifting a minimum of 3 to 4 days a week.

3.) Get Enough Rest. Your body needs time to reset itself. When you sleep less than you should, you throw off the amounts of leptin and ghrelin—hormones that help regulate energy use and appetite—that your body produces.  A poor night of rest can also increase the stress hormone cortisol, which can cause belly fat It’s a vicious cycle so be sure to get your ZZZZ”s Going to bed at a decent time can also stop those late night cravings and binges.
