5 Ways to Shift Your Mindset for Better Weight Loss Results

We all know what we need to do do actually lose weight. It’s just a matter of doing it. First things first though, you have to shift your mindset to see better weight loss results. It’s true. Weight loss is a HUGE mind over matter issue. We sometimes overthink things and then talk ourselves out of even starting a new weight loss program. I work with closely on shifting your mindset in my Health and Fitness VIP Program.

You actually may have to shift your mindset in order to see weight loss results. Every diet and weight-loss strategy has its pros and cons, but for any one to really work, you’ve got to get your mind right.

Shifting your mindset about how to lose weight is the biggest factor in losing weight. We can’t shift our weight from the outside without realizing what we need to shift from the inside first. We’re all looking to “fix” ourselves through weight loss but that just isn’t the best way to look at. I’ve seen it happen all too often where people get obsessed with results, focus on quick fixes and lose sight of the big picture and throw their health and/or sustainability to the way side. This type of thinking just sets you up for failure and disappointment.

 

 

 

Here are my top 5 Tips to shifting your mindset for better weight loss results:

  1. Change Your Goals

Keep your goals away from the weight loss goal. I know weight loss the result you’re probably looking for but you have to start small and take it one day at a time. Set small attainable goals and don’t make them all about weight loss. Did you drink enough water today? Did you workout today? DO you feel stronger today than yesterday? Baby steps.

2. Don’t Punish Yourself

Go easy on yourself. The healthy choices you are making are all a part of self care and it takes time to adjust to these new ways of thinking.  Don’t punish yourself if you are having a difficult time with things. Be patient and trust the process.

3. Keep a Positive Attitude

Surround yourself with positive people who will help build you up. Think positive thoughts and believe in yourself. Believe that you WILL reach your goals and believe you are worth the effort you are putting in to taking care of yourself.

4. Don’t Step on the Scale

While the scale is definitely a way to measure your progress, too many of us have learned to associate it with self-destructive thoughts and actions. Don’t step on the scale and get upset, put it in your closet. The scale is just giving you a number and that number doesn’t define your self worth.

5. Be Patient and Kind

Be patient with yourself. These things take time and you have to be kind to yourself through the entire process. Treat yourself like you would your best friend, be patient and compassionate with yourself. You deserve the same respect and compassion as anyone else; treat yourself like it.
