3 Things That Made the Most Impact on My Weight Loss

I was TIRED of yo-yoing…
TIRED of falling off the wagon…
TIRED of expensive & confusing diet plans I couldn’t follow…
I was so tired of looking in the mirror and not liking what I was seeing
Something had to change.
I wanted to be the woman who TRIED & actually succeeded…
I have spent years chasing diets and yo-yoing back and forth, it seemed like an endless emotional rollercoaster. I knew I couldn’t go on forever like this, it was making me crazy. It was not until I got really educated about weight loss and nutrition that it all changed for me. There’s so much more to weight loss than diet and exercise.
I’m not saying I found some secret sauce and the next day all the weight fell off. I’m telling you that once I understood MY body, I could start making changes that worked over time. And from that…I am the person I am today who no longer struggles with my weight or the number on the scale.
So, what were these 3 things that made the most impact on my weight loss?
EATING REAL FOOD:
I started limiting the amount of processed foods I was eating. To say I NEVER have them anymore would be a lie. I just don’t have them very often. Switching things up this way actually makes a huge difference in how you feel and your energy.
EXERCISE FOR HEALTH:
I stopped punishing myself with workouts. You know when you have a “bad” day of eating and then feel like you have to workout double just to “burn it off”. I used to do that all the time. If you only knew how many times a week I used to take back in the day. It pretty much did nothing but exhaust me. Guess what…that never works and actually set me up to be hungrier, grumpier and still no weight loss.
BALANCE YOUR FOOD:
I learned that diets are way too extreme. EAT ALL THE THINGS! 80/20 is my rule of thumb. Be sure you are balancing what you eat by choosing things that will nourish your body and know that is IS okay to have a treat. I stopped putting certain foods on “restriction” or having them be “off limits”. Seems when things are NOT off limits, we don’t quite crave them or BINGE on them!
Mindset
I can tell you there was a mindset shift. In fact, this may be the missing ingredient for most of us. We’re so busy trying to get in the workouts and hit our calorie goal that we are missing the REAL reason why we aren’t losing weight…and for each of us, that may be a different reason.
This diet mindset isn’t gettin us anywhere but making us feel frustrated and lost. It’s like we are “Failing” because we’re not getting the results we’re looking for time and time again. Things just aren’t sustainable nor are they healthy.
The 3 things I spoke about above have had a massive impact on not on my my weight loss BUT on the maintaining of my weight and my overall health. It’s not a one size fits all approach and there is no quick fix out there. We have to stop chasing that next diet and look inside.
I believe it all starts with our mindset. I work closely with my clients in my Balance 360 Program on mindset. They are amazed at how effortlessly the weight loss is once they work on themselves in this way.
