Seasons change and so do our bodies. So, WHY is detoxing your body so important?
Seasons Change and So do We
When would you say it’s a perfect time of year for detoxification? As the seasons change, many of us are motivated to do ‘spring cleaning’ in our homes and gardens. The same need applies to our bodies. When the body is detoxified, it can function more efficiently and gain resilience.
As “seasons change” in our bodies. Things, like toxins, tend to build up over time. This toxic build-up can cause our systems in our body to get a little “cluttered” and lead to health issues. Things like hormone imbalances, obesity, mental fog, memory loss, fatigue, lack of vitality, metabolic syndrome, sleep disturbances are all manifestations of a toxic body.
Toxins! What toxins?
I often compare these toxins building up in the body to a cars engine OR the pipes in your house. Over time, things build up and “FUNK” up the entire system, causing things to run a little slower than usual.
We clean out our pipes when there is build up in them. We change the oil in our engine to make sure things run smoothly. This goes the same for our bodies.
Our bodies are like the engine or the pipes. The collaboration and communication between our major systems in the body are critical to its proper function. These systems are the endocrine or hormonal system, the immune system, the liver, and the gut. If any of these systems is compromised, the “engine” will not run well. Toxins and hormone disruptors are like dirt in the engine of the body which interferes with the communication and collaboration between its major systems.
Unfortunately, some of us take better care of our cars than we do our bodies and its system.
How we detoxify
Generally, our liver takes care of the detoxification process. However, when it is overwhelmed with toxins, it cannot function to its full capacity, it is not running on all cylinders when it is “funked” up. It cannot break things down or function properly with all the day to day toxins that have built up. It just can’t keep up.
Without a seasonal “closet cleanout” the liver is constantly on overdrive. This can lead to many health issues such as:
- Heart Disease
- Poor Immune System
- Diarrhea and Constipation
- Autoimmune Diseases
- Acid Reflux
- Obesity and Weight Gain
- Mental Health Disorders
- Skin Problems
This is only a few of the health issues that can be caused by a toxic system.
DETOX!! I’m scared of that word!
There really is nothing to be afraid of with a detox. Well, a gentle one. I don’t believe that in order to actually de-funk our system, we have to starve ourselves and pump our bodies full of chalky drinks and potions.
Don’t let the word DETOX scare you. When a detox is done right, it’s just another way you’re helping prepare your body to live a healthier and more natural lifestyle. Doing a natural cleanse/detox at least seasonally and can help reduce the potential for many health concerns.
What does it mean to detox?
Detox diets and cleanses are all the rage these days. If you look at these and nothing else, you may think detoxing means drinking only green juice for a week straight. that is so not true with my Seasonal Gut Reset Program.
Don’t get me wrong. I love a good, intentional cleanse, but these super strict diets aren’t what detoxing is all about. A DETOX is NOT a diet or a means to drop that extra weight in 3 to 4 days. That’s just not how t works.
Detoxification is a series of systems working together to neutralize and/or eliminate toxic substances. It’s always running in the background, working to keep your body functioning as it should.
Your liver is the star of the show as it works to process toxins and forward them to the “elimination stations.” These include your:
- Kidneys (elimination through urine)
- Bowel (elimination through Poop)
- Skin (elimination through sweat)
So “to detox” means to support what your body is already trying to do. There are times when our bodies need a little extra help, which is where the RESET comes in.
