How I Went From Feeling Like a Zombie to Feeling Full of Energy

There was a time, not so long ago,  when I felt like a walking zombie? I literally felt like I was from the walking dead, no joke. I was completely exhausted, overtired and basically, sick and tired of being sick and tired.

When it all started

I can’t really pinpoint when it all started I just know that it crept up on me over time and was kicking my a$$. I couldn’t make it through the day without needing a nap. I’ve had thyroid issues for over 20 years so I would always blame it on that. It seems to be one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, which is what I have. I can tell you is that is sucked and I was cranky and irritable and really could NOT stand myself anymore so I can only imagine what my family thought of me.

With sleeping during the day with my daily naps, there were times that I couldn’t fall asleep at night. Sometimes, it was that my brain just wouldn’t shut down and others it was because I just simply could not fall asleep. I was wired but in the same sentence, I was completely exhausted. I can remember telling my husband that if I should happen to fall asleep on the couch to just leave me there.

I was at a point that whatever sleep I could get, I was taking and it didn’t matter where I was, the couch, the bed, the kitchen floor (kidding). I just wanted and desperately needed sleep. My body was not getting enough sleep and what sleep I was getting was pretty much broken sleep. I’d never wake up rested, just back to zombie land I’d go each day.

 

 

So what the heck was wrong with me?

Why was I a zombie and what in the world was wrong with me? There was nothing “wrong” with me. Of course, I would have my thyroid levels checked and they would come back “normal” so they would tell me I should try to get on a better sleep schedule. Ok, thanks!

I had tried over the counter sleep aids and setting up a little routine to go through each night before I went to bed but it wasn’t quite working. The sleep aids would not work unless I literally took 3 or more of them. They would only make me feel like I had been hit by a MAC truck in the morning. Still in ZOMBIE land.

It was getting very old real quick. I needed to find something that would help me get a full nights sleep. Recharging my “battery” was necessary. I was sleeping my days away and just not feeling like myself.

How I found my energy

It got to a point where I was willing to try anything. Well, anything that wasn’t habit-forming. I had a friend suggest an herbal drink that could possibly help me. So I decided to give it a try not knowing what it would do but hoping for the best.

Would you believe I SLEPT that night? Full on, sleep through the night wake up rested kind of sleep. That was that this was now my new sleep aid. It is a totally natural, herbal plant-based supplemental drink. I’ve been using it for a little over a year and a half now. There are even times when I don’t even drink it at night and still get good sleep.

I wake up feeling rested and no longer need a nap to survive the day as a full-on adult.

 

 

The energy continues

So I can blame a lot of this on my thyroid or I could just chalk it up to stress. I’m not sure which would be the guilty party. Over time, I have moved further into the herbal supplements. Not only have they helped me to get a better nights sleep but I have also lost most, if not all of the thyroid symptoms I had before…even though my levels are still a bit on the low side, they consider them “normal”.

I no longer feel like a zombie and I have sustained energy throughout the day. Not like I am on crack energy, just enough to not need a nap or feel like crap. I am forever thankful that I was introduced to these adaptogenic herbs. They have truly changed my life from my sleep to my thyroid symptoms to strengthening my immune system and gut health. I’ve never felt better.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

I’m gonna give props out to these little adaptogenic herbs I’ve been using. These herbal supplements have helped boost my natural ability to deal with stress and rebalanced whatever went out of whack, whatever triggered it. Maybe the trigger was stress or maybe it was my thyroid.

Stress can make us tired, irritable, depressed, or anxious. It can disrupt sleep and hormone balance, give us heartburn or a headache, provoke cravings, and make it easier to catch a cold or the flu. I no longer feel the irritability, I actually had my hormones checked and they are A-okay and, knock on wood, I have not been sick in quite some time. I’d say whatever was causing me to be a zombie has been rectified with these adaptogens.
